Arts & Crafts

We need people with arts and craft skills to help build and paint sets and props.

Costume Shop

We need people with laundry/sewing skills and an eye for fashion.

Publicity

We need people with a gift for gab to participate in publicity and public relations activities.

Construction

We need people with braun, muscle and a fondness for power tools to help build, load in and strike our sets as well as participate in our organizational days.

Fundraising

We need people with a fabulous vocabulary and a way with words to help with grant writing and publicity.

Stage Crew

We need people with good night vision to help out backstage during performances.

Ushers

We need people with a flair for hospitality to work as ushers during performances.

Acting

We need people who want to see and be seen to take the stage during our performances.

Tech

We need people with technical expertise to assist with lighting and sound.


In the meantime, you can also give us an idea of your experience by filling out a Skills Inventory Worksheet (now available in PDF). (Don't worry if you don't have any experience; even if you'd just like to learn or try something new, we'd be happy to have you.) This form should be saved as NTP_YourName.doc, then submitted as an e-mail attachment to volunteer@newtowneplayers.org.

Membership

Membership Requirements

  • Dues in the amount of $25 annually shall be paid at the beginning of the membership term.
  • Members are expected to participate in at least one production each season in any capacity. (This can include ticket taking, set construction, concession sales, childcare for actors, costume design, etc.)
  • Anyone accepting a role in a Newtowne Players performance must be a member of The Newtowne Players.

Membership Term

  • The membership term shall begin on the date dues are paid and shall continue for one year from that date. The member will be given one months prior notice for membership renewal.

Membership Rights

  • Receive a membership card granting member to a $2 discount to regular ticket price of 5 NTP productions per membership term.
  • Receive a copy of the NTP by-laws
  • Suggest improvements to the by-laws
  • Have voting privileges, including the selection of Executive Council members, changes in the by-laws and The Triple Notch Awards.
  • Receive via e-mail the agenda for the upcoming Executive Council meeting, should they choose to attend the meeting and address a particular agenda item.
  • Receive via e-mail the minutes and committee reports from each Executive Council meeting.
  • Receive via e-mail a link to our members-only newsletter The Newtowne News.
  • Be contacted prior to the expiration of his/her membership, to remind the member of his/her renewal date.
  • Serve on the Executive Council, provided that person was nominated and voted on by a quorum of the membership.
  • Have the option to participate on any sub-committee formed by the Executive Council.
  • Perform in NTP productions if chosen through the standard audition process.
  • Be recognized and receive awards for their service to NTP

Membership Responsibilities

  • Sign a Newtowne Players liability waiver
  • Complete a Skills Inventory and update it as needed.
  • Complete an entry in the volunteer time sheet binder whenever engaged in volunteer service to NTP.
  • Take ownership of our theatre space and make sure that any mess or trash is cleaned up before leaving the space.
  • Be an ambassador of The Newtowne Players. As such, members are expected to present a positive image of our organization to the general public and will not do or say anything that might reflect poorly on the organization.
  • Be respectful to other members, the Three Notch Theater facility, and NTP properties and wardrobe items.
  • Make their personal safety and the safety of others a highest priority when involved in NTP business.

Meetings

  • The regular membership meeting will be held annually with proper notification in writing to the membership. This meeting will also be publicly advertised. Members are invited and encouraged to attend the membership meetings.

Private Patronage

If you are an individual who loves theatre, you can help keep the live theatre experience in Southern Maryland by becoming a private patron. Below you will find there are several levels of patronage. Our performers, volunteer crew and members are all residents of Southern Maryland. They devote many hours of dedicated, hard work to The Newtowne Players to make sure we deliver quality entertainment to our community. To produce a quality show costs thousands of dollars. Our existence is only possible through the generous support and contributions of the business community and individuals. We need your help not only to maintain, but also constantly to enhance the high quality of our productions - while keeping ticket prices within the reach of the entire community. All contributions are tax deductible as provided by law.

Crew Member - up to - $99

A Crew Member receives recognition in the program for a single show during the current season. You may select the show you wish to support at the time of your contribution.
Stage Manager- $100-$249
Stage Managers will be recognized in the "Special Thanks" section of the program for 2 productions. All funds given by Stage Managers will be used towards sets and construction. You may select the show you wish to support at the time of your contribution.
Technical Director - $250-$499
Technical Director will be given 2 complimentary tickets to a regular production* as well as recognition in our programs for an entire season. All funds given by Technical Directors will go to the purchase of technical equipment.
Production Manager - $500- $999
Production Mangers will be given 2 complimentary tickets to a regular production* as well as a discount on group purchases of 20 or more. Production Managers will be recognized in our programs for the entire season.
Assistant Director - $1000-$4999
Assist. Directors will be given 2 complimentary tickets to a regular production* as well as a discount on group purchases of 20 or more. And 2 complimentary tickets to the Sponsors Open Night, for each regular production of the season. Assist. Directors will be recognized in our programs and on our website for the entire season.
Director - $5000 or more
Directors will be given 4 complimentary tickets to a regular production* as well as a discount on group purchases of 20 or more. And 4 complimentary tickets to our Sponsors Open Night for each regular production for the season. Advance ticket sales. Directors will be recognized in our programs and on our website for the entire season.
*A regular production consists of one of the 4 major theatrical productions, produced annually as a Newtowne Players production.

Corporate Sponsorship

Level I--Chorus--up to--$99

Your company will receive 1 line of recognition in our program for a single show. You may select the show you wish to support at the time of your contribution.
Level II - Understudy -- $100--$249
Your company will receive 2 lines of recognition in the program for a single show. You may select the show you wish to support at the time of your contribution.
Level III - Supporting Actor -- $250--$499
Your company will receive a 1/4-page ad in the program for a single show. You may select the show you wish to support at the time of your contribution.
Level IV - Starring Role -- $500--$999
Your company will receive a 1/4-page ad in the program for all shows during the current season. In the event that the sponsorship comes late in the season, your ad will run into the following season for the number of shows required to make up the missed shows.
Level V--Tony Award Nominee---$1000--$4999
Your company will receive a 1/2-page ad in the program of all shows during the current season. 2 complimentary tickets to our Sponsors Open Night for each regular production for the season. Discounts for your company employees. In the event that the sponsorship comes late in the season, your ad will run into the following season for the number of shows required to make up the missed shows.
Level VI-- Tony Award Winner -- $5000--$9999
Your company will receive a full page add or your name and logo will be displayed on the back of all tickets printed for an entire season. 2 complimentary tickets to our Sponsors Open Night for each regular production for the season. Discounts for your company employees. Tony Award Winner sponsorship is only available in December prior to the beginning of the season, however, if your company wishes to sponsor the playhouse for the next season, you may make that donation at any time.
Level VII---Life Time Achievement Award----$10,000+
Your company will receive a plaque in our lobby and be recognized as an under writer for one of our annual productions. Discounts for your company employees. 4 complimentary tickets to our Sponsors Open Night for each regular production for the season. Advanced ticket sales, group discounts, and recognition on our program and website throughout the year.
